About Liam Carrington

ATHLETE PROFILE

Born on March 11, 2008, Liam Carrington is a rising swimming talent from the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Hailing from the southern part of the island, Liam’s journey in the pool began when he was just 2 years old. By the age of five, he was already making waves in non-competitive swim meets, showing promise well beyond his years.

Liam's early education took place at TML Primary School in San Fernando, followed by Presentation College—both in his hometown. As his passion and talent for swimming flourished, Liam transitioned to the prestigious Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, renowned for its elite swimming program and olympic driven alumni.

Over the years, Liam has trained with some of Trinidad and Tobago’s most respected swim coaches, Mr Christian Homer, Youth Olympic Gold Medalist 2010, at the Barracudas Swim Club for six formative years, Mr. Joseph McLeod and Mr. Maurice Faria at the Marlins Swim Club for seven months before leaving for Jacksonville,  Florida. In the U.S., he continues his high-performance development with the Bolles Sharks and Bolles Bulldogs under the guidance of Mr. Peter Verhoef and Mr. Jake Gibbons.

But Liam’s story extends far beyond the pool. A well-rounded athlete, he has competed in football, triathlon, go-kart racing, and mixed martial arts—earning belts just two levels shy of black. At school, he was a dedicated representative in both track and field events and 3K road races. He also served as a Cub Scout and later a Sea Scout, where he played trombone in the Sea Scout band.

Through it all, swimming remained his unwavering passion. Whenever other interests clashed with training, Liam always chose the pool. His discipline, focus, and drive have set him apart not only as an athlete but as a young man grounded in values. Deeply rooted in his faith, Liam has been serving as an Altar Server at his local parish for the past seven years, embodying dedication both in and out of the water.

Now representing Trinidad and Tobago on an international path, Liam Carrington continues to grow as an elite swimmer, carrying with him the pride of his heritage and the spirit of perseverance.
